Our Community Allotment

First up, if you don’t know already we have launched a community allotment scheme here in Moretonhampstead. Last year we began preparing the ground at this beautiful site, but there is still lots more to do! We’ve been talking with local residents to gather their opinions on what we should do with the allotment space, and we’d love it if you could get in touch with any ideas.

Maybe you’re feeling like you’ve been cooped up inside for far too long and it’s time to get outside for some fresh air? Perhaps you’ve always wanted to grow some veggies but have no idea where to start? This project is open to everyone, and we’d love it if we had lots of different age groups involved!

The idea of a local community allotment started with our local GPs, who wanted to be able to ‘prescribe’ outdoor work to patients suffering from mental or physical health issues. It has been proven that getting outside reduces stress and anxiety, and helps with strengthening the immune system.* Additionally, studies have shown that being in nature promotes good cardiovascular health.** Plus you’ll get the chance to connect with other like-minded local residents who share a love of nature and the outdoors.

Sound good? Contact Gina on georgina@wellmoor.org.uk to see how you can get involved.
