virtual wards

We are partnering with Devon Communities Together and other voluntary and community organisations, for a pilot project to help support patients from Exeter hospital who require remote monitoring. The two week ‘virtual ward’ will enable clinicians to continue to monitor patients from the patient’s homes, without them needing to physically be in hospital.

Wellmoor will be providing support with the technology required to continue the monitoring, ensuring the patient feels comfortable with using it and that the right information is being communicated to the clinical teams.

digital befriending

Whilst the internet and technology are becoming ubiquitous in our society, still an estimated 9 million people in the UK are unable to use the internet without help (Lloyds Bank Consumer Digital Index 2020). Wellmoor’s Digital Befriending volunteers offer one-to-one, in person help with online skills, helping local residents to feel more confident using their digital device.

Our Digital Befrienders can help with anything a person needs to do online, including emailing, ordering shopping, video calling family, or any internet and technology related issues. We can provide a device if needed, and help with getting connected to the internet.

To become a digital befriending volunteer with us will require you to undertake several training modules, which can be done online at your own pace. Some previous experience with computers and I.T. would be beneficial, but is not essential - it’s more important that you are friendly and patient!

Our Digital Befriending offering will be coming to an end in February 2023 – thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, Digital Befrienders and clients for making this such a brilliant project over the last 1.5 years!

If you would like to volunteer, or know of anyone who needs help please get in touch by emailing Katie on katie@wellmoor.org.uk or calling the Wellmoor office on 01647 440775.
