Digital Befriender Job Description – September 2022

Digital exclusion is a prevalent issue in our community, with many people feeling isolated due to the increasing pace of the digital world. Wellmoor are a health and wellbeing charity based in Moretonhampstead. We provide one to one support with digital skills for people in the local community, helping with everything from connecting printers and booking doctor’s appointments to video calling family and friends.

We are looking for a friendly and calm person to join our team as a Digital Befriender. You will be required to provide one to one help at people’s homes, assisting them with a range of digital tasks.

Requirements:

·       A good knowledge of IT and computers, preferably both Apple iOS and Windows/Android

·       Familiarity with a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets and desktop computers

·       A driving license and access to a car

·       A calm and friendly manner, and lots of patience!

Key information:

·       Reporting to Katie Taylor, Wellmoor Project Manager

·       £12 per hour, on a freelance basis, for 10 hours per week

·       Mileage paid at 45p per mile

·       The role requires proof of a recent DBS check or consent to having one done

·       This is a temporary post from September 2022 to February 2023, with the potential to continue if funding allows
