Carnival Cèilidh celebrating 100 Years of Moretonhampstead Carnival

Green Hill Arts will be holding a Carnival Cèilidh at Moretonhampstead Parish Hall on Saturday 8th February, from 6pm until late.

Come and join us for an evening full of fun, dancing, and Carnival spirit in the depths of winter! Dancing will be accompanied by the fantastic Dartmoor Community Folk Orchestra led by David Faulkner calling traditional dances for all to enjoy. We will also be inviting the community to contribute music, poetry and spoken word with Carnival inspiration. Bar and refreshments will be available.

This event is free thanks to funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, although donations are welcomed and will go towards the Carnival Committee. Green Hill Arts received £7451 from the fund to deliver a range of creative projects celebrating Carnival, including an after-school art club and music workshops for students at Moretonhampstead Primary School, and community textile workshops to create a huge banner for the Carnival procession. Artwork will be proudly displayed at the Carnival Cèilidh before moving to an exhibition at Moretonhampstead Health Centre.
