WELLMOOR in 2025 - A note from our Lead Trustee

Happy new year from Wellmoor! As we step into 2024, we have been reflecting on the year that has passed and looking forward with excitement to the year ahead.

Wellmoor, the health and wellbeing arm of the Moretonhampstead Development Trust, aims to support people in our local communities to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. I must start by saying a huge thank you to the team of fantastic volunteers and supporters who work alongside our small staff team to make these projects happen.

Perhaps you have enjoyed, taken part in, and benefitted from some Wellmoor’s activities this year – if so know that we couldn’t have done it without the support of our wonderful volunteers. We are always keen to hear from those who want to get stuck in and have opportunities to get involved from Trustee level to casual volunteer. So, if 2025 is your year to get involved with something in your local community, get in touch!

In 2024 we were very pleased to see the return of long-standing Wellmoor projects, Friendly Fridays, Devon Daytrippers, Art Raft and the Community Allotment, and excited by the launch of new projects such as Active Moreton and Wellbeing Walks. We have continued ongoing support for Unpaid Carers with a Support Fund and supported exercise classes. Probably most excitingly, were able to finally secure a suitable site for the Community Shed in November and we are looking forward to seeing the shed project grow in the coming year.

When taking this moment to reflect on the projects Wellmoor delivers, it is remarkable to see how many grow and evolve from a suggestion or idea from someone in the community, perhaps at one of Wellmoor’s events or via our twice annual Health and Wellbeing Advisory Group. We are always keen to hear from YOU with comments, proposals and suggestions for future work. You can always get in touch by email (richard@wellmoor.org.uk ) or phone (01647 478378) we shall be delighted to hear from you!

For now, we at Wellmoor wish you the very best health and happiness for the coming year!
